Fildeen This
beast walks on three legs with six toes each. Its front paws end in clawed,
human-like hands. It stares with wide, red eyes.
Fildeens are curious pranksters and opportunistic hunters
of the Plane of Shadow. In that world, they fulfill a role similar to hyenas or
wolves, acting as social predators that work in packs to take down large prey.
They have no ability to travel between worlds on their own, but can sometimes
slip through the borders between planes when they grow thin due to natural
cycles or magical meddling.
Fildeens are typically inquisitive and precocious, and
show little fear of humanoids. Their own appearance and ghastly cries tends to
strike fear into other creatures, however, and they will respond to violence in
kind. A lone fildeen will not likely view a Medium humanoid as prey, but
children, halflings and gnomes are all on the menu. Although they have little
society, fildeens are intelligent enough to avoid traps, plan ambushes and
speak, which they do in wheedling, high-pitched voices.
A fildeen stands about three feet tall and weighs seventy
pounds. They may be mistaken for apes or kangaroos from a distance or by the
uninformed. They are fond of shae and may be found as pets in shae communities.
Small packs of fildeen are found in the wilds of Senksen. They are considered nuisances by most inhabitants, but the small uldra slay them whenever possible.
