Thessilkrat
This
dragon is slightly larger than a cat, with a long neck and an elegant beard and
mustache. Its tail ends in a cluster of short barbs.

Thessilkrats are small dragons related to
pseudodragons, but more haughty and dignified. Wild thessilkrats live in cliff
faces and canyons, but they find the organized world of a city much to their
liking and may move in. There, they sell their services as a translator and
orator—every thessilkrat loves the sound of its own voice. They tend to be fond
of logic and riddles and somewhat disdainful of those that let emotion rule
their lives.

Thessilkrats prefer to avoid violence. If
pressed, however, they will fight at range, flicking their tails and releasing
sharp quills as a missile weapon. Most thessilkrats will not fight to the
death, attempting to flee or surrender if badly injured. If hired by a party,
they are more than happy to serve more as an advisor than as a combatant,
although they will take pot-shots and use their spell-like abilities to support
their allies.

Many thessilkrats seek out a lawful-aligned
spellcaster to serve as a familiar. The process is typically intensive and
interview heavy, as the thessilkrat takes its time in determining whether
another creature is worthy of its utter dedication. A lawful spellcaster of 7th
level or higher with the Improved Familiar feat may take a thessilkrat as a
familiar.

Thessilkrats were a common sight during the reign of the Kingdom of Kown-Dam, favoring spellcasters who worshipped Yennba with their allegiance. In the modern day, they are much rarer but still exhibit this tendency.
