[This image accompanied the original “necromental” template, which took an elemental and made it a mindless undead capable of inflicting negative levels. I kept the negative levels for my “necrolith”, but I gave them back their intelligence, and a few other abilities to boot.]

Necrolith

Looming before you is a roughly humanoid mound of soil and rock
studded with bones. Where a head should be are set a conglomerate of
skulls of various kinds.

Necroliths are among the most common of necromentals due to the
commonality of desecrated graves and other places where undeath and
earth come into contact. The presence of a necrolith is cause for great
concern, as their ability to create undead can lead to a massive wight
plague in a short period of time. Necroliths are territorial towards the
living, marking their domains with plinths and signposts constructed
from bones scavenged from graves.

Necroliths are most commonly seen on Egdwen, though they are rare even there. Even other undead dislike them, for their unsubtle brutality can inadvertently affect their own schemes. Tomb motes are a notable exception, eagerly tailing them like pilot-fish to a shark.
